VISIT BODEGAS CABALLERO [CASTLE OF SAN MARCOS]
The Caballero Group is a family business founded in 1830, based in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz. Its main activity is the elaboration and commercialization of spirits and wines, with special attention to the wines of the Denomination of Origin Jerez-Xérez-Sherry.
The Castle of San Marcos, located in the center of El Puerto de Santa María, is a 13th century fortress built over an ancient mosque by Alfonso X the Wise after the capture of the city during the Reconquest. Guided tours of the castle and its winery offer a comprehensive experience, including a tour of the historic winery and a tasting of three Jerez wines, Lustau vermouth and the traditional Ponche Caballero.

Enhorabuena a nuestra guía ANA, excelente profesional, demostrando amplio y profundo conocimiento en historia, arte y por supuesto "en vinos". Magnífica comunicadora a la hora de la cata,,,,,supo explicarnos con sencillez algo tan complicado y "mágico" como es la crianza de los vinos de Jerez. Recomendable 100%.
Precioso castillo totalmente restaurado y una visita imprescindible para hacer en El puerto de Santa Maria. Sus orígenes y su historia romana, musulmana y medieval va paralela a la historia del pueblo. Destacar la restaurada mezquita con sus arcadas y el mirab, las torres, o la explanada superior. También se visita su bodega en donde se celebran eventos. Puedes hacer visita guiada o con audio guía. El audio guía (con el movil) facilita información muy amenas e interesante. El precio con audioguia es de 10 euros.
