VISIT BODEGA BIEN DE ALTURA VINOS [GRAN CANARIA]

Bien de Altura was founded in 2017 by Carmelo Peña Santana, a winemaker from Gran Canaria trained in Tarragona, who returned to the island to revive the winemaking potential of the highlands of San Mateo. It is a first-generation family project: no one in the family came from the wine world, and the early years were run by hand, between harvests and home labeling.

The vineyards sit between 1,000 and 1,400 meters above sea level, on volcanic soils of varying textures that lend minerality to the wine. The winery works with native varieties such as Listán Negro, Listán Prieto and local white varieties, on plots over 80 years old, under D.O. Gran Canaria.
