Although the winemaking tradition of the Suárez family dates back to 1670, it was in 1880 when Bodegas Quitapenas was officially founded by Ramón Suárez and his family in the Miraflores del Palo neighbourhood (Málaga city). Generation after generation, they have preserved the art of Malaga sweet wine, becoming a benchmark for locals and travellers looking to "wash away their sorrows" with a good wine. Today, with more than 145 years of history, the bodega is still active in its modern facilities in Guadalmar, being the only bodega currently located within the municipality of Malaga.
