Hotel Santa María Briones

CHARMING HOTEL IN RIOJA ALTA [BRIONES]

Hotel Santa María Briones occupies a 16th-century civil manor house listed for its historical value, located in the medieval village of Briones, in the Rioja Alta. The building was restored by architect Ignacio Quemada and interior designer Isabel López Vilalta, preserving original elements such as the calado — a traditional winemaking and storage cellar — and the stone lagar where grapes were trodden. The hotel has 16 rooms with views of the Ebro river, the defensive walls or the historic town centre. It is the only accommodation in La Rioja to hold the Michelin Key, and is part of the Ruta del Vino de La Rioja.

The 13th-century walled inner courtyard is the heart of hotel life: a resting space integrated into the defensive architecture of Briones. The facilities include the Allegar gastronomic restaurant, the traditional El Calado restaurant, a café and bar lounge, a reading room, a gym and meeting rooms. A 15-minute walk away is the Museo Vivanco de la Cultura del Vino, one of the most comprehensive wine museums in Spain. The hotel welcomes guests aged 12 and over.
