VISIT BODEGA EMINA WINERY [RIBERA DEL DUERO]
Bodega Emina Ribera del Duero opened in 2005 in Valbuena de Duero, in the heart of Ribera del Duero's Milla de Oro, as part of the Bodegas Familiares Matarromera project driven by Carlos Moro. From the outset it was conceived as the designation's first Integral Centre for Sustainable Development: the eco-efficient building is set into the landscape with an architecture inspired by ancient Roman villas, with wings arranged around a bottling pyramid that has become one of the winery's most recognisable visual features. In 2010, Emina became the first Spanish company to certify the carbon footprint of one of its wines — Emina Verdejo — with Aenor, and in 2013 it installed the first electric charging station in Ribera del Duero at its facilities.
Emina Ribera's vineyards are located in the Milla de Oro. Next to the winery, it maintains a Variety Garden with more than twenty vine varieties from different regions — Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Garnacha, Mencía, Prieto Picudo, Roussanne, among others — which is included in the visits as a space for research and oenological education. The winery also houses a wine museum with interactive installations and its own artwork, adding a cultural dimension to the tour.
