GR99 Wines

VISIT GR99 WINES [LA RIOJA]

GR99 Wines is a winemaker's project born in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, one of the most vine-dense municipalities in La Rioja Alta, set between the Sierra de Cantabria and the river Ebro. Behind the winery are Ana Benés, an economist with WSET training, and Carlos Mendoza, an oenologist with over 20 years of experience at Remírez de Ganuza and a winegrower tending his own vineyards for 25 years. Together they decided to create something of their own: three wines, three plots and three interpretations of Tempranillo in a single village.

The philosophy of GR99 is built on minimal intervention in the vineyard, organic winegrowing and respect for the natural rhythms of the land. The winery's name is a tribute to the course of the river Ebro through its vineyards. The range includes very limited-production wines, among them Milgrano, made berry by berry from a vineyard planted in 1909, with a production of just 600 bottles.
