Vi Rei Winery: Launches 2 New Tasting Experiences.
WINE TASTINGS IN MALLORCA [2024]
Bodegas Vi Rei, located in the historic town of Llucmajor, Mallorca, expands its wine tourism offerings with two new tasting experiences: the Vertical Tasting and the Contrast Tasting. Both activities are designed to enrich the experience of wine lovers, offering a deep immersion in the rich wine tradition of the region.
Vertical Tasting: A Journey through Time
A vertical tasting is a unique experience that allows participants to taste different vintages of the same wine. This type of tasting is ideal for appreciating the evolution of the wine over time, understanding how its characteristics vary with aging, and learning about the impact of each year's climatic conditions on its profile.
Contrast Tasting: Comparison of Young and Barrel Aged Wines
The Contrast Tasting offers an interesting comparison between young wines and their barrel-aged counterparts of the same vintage. This tasting allows participants to discover how time in barrel can transform a wine, enriching it with new nuances and complexity. Attendees can choose from the following varieties:
- Prensal – Prensal Barrica
- Malvasia – Malvasia Barrica
- Sauvignon – Sauvignon Barrica
- Chardonnay – Chardonnay Barrica
- Vi Rei Red – Vi Rei Tinto Barrica
Participants can select four varieties of wine to taste in this activity.

A Wine Legacy in Llucmajor
Llucmajor, one of the first populated areas of Mallorca, has a deep wine history dating back to Roman times. The Romans planted the first vines in this region, and since then, Llucmajor has been recognized for the excellence of its wines. At the beginning of this century, new vines were planted on the Sa Bassa Plana estate, revitalizing the wine sector in the area. Most of the vineyard was established in 2012, covering 100 hectares with native varieties such as Premsal Blanc, Manto Negro, Giró Ros and Callet, as well as important international varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malvasía.
