The Rioja Alavesa Wine Route is located on the Iberian Peninsula, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, between the provinces of Álava and La Rioja. The Denomination of Origin that controls the wines of the area is the DOCa Rioja, recognised worldwide for the quality of its red wines made mainly with the Tempranillo variety, as well as for its traditional wineries and vineyard landscapes.
