Bodega Encina Blanca de Alburquerque

VISIT BODEGA ENCINA BLANCA DE ALBURQUERQUE [BADAJOZ]

Encina Blanca de Alburquerque is a family winery focused on recovering centuries-old native grape varieties from the municipality of Alburquerque (Badajoz). The project works with a mosaic of recovered varieties that reflect the terrain and climate of the area.

The estate's own vineyards sit on poor, shallow soils, with wide day-night temperature swings during grape ripening — factors that favor grape quality despite low yields. The varieties grown include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo and Petit Verdot for reds, along with minority recovered varieties such as Verdejo Serrano, Albillo Real, Bastardo Blanco and Hebén for whites. Aging takes place in new French oak barrels, and the winery also produces sparkling wine aged sur lie.
