Casa Primicia is the oldest original winery in Spain (15th century). In the heart of the Rioja Alavesa region lies the historic town of Laguardia. The Casa Primicia is its oldest civil building, dating back to the 11th century, and has been a winery since the 15th century. The church collected medieval taxes (tithes and first fruits) and produced wine until the middle of the 19th century.
In 1973 Julián Madrid, a winegrower from Laguardia, a pioneer, a lover of Rioja Alavesa and the wines of the land, rescued Casa Primicia from history. In 2006, some restoration works were carried out, which were completed in 2009, and which today allow us to visit the winery as it was originally, as well as to enjoy the magic of its subway cellars.
The visit culminates with a tasting of the prestigious and award-winning wines of Bodegas Casa Primicia. There is a lunch option for groups.
