VISIT BODEGAS JOSÉ PARIENTE WINERY [RUEDA]
Bodegas José Pariente was founded in 1998 in La Seca, Valladolid, in the heart of the Rueda Designation of Origin. The project was launched by oenologist Victoria Pariente as a tribute to her father, José Pariente, a local winegrower who since the 1960s had made artisan wine from verdejo grapes grown on his own land. Today the winery is run by the third generation of the family, Martina and Ignacio Prieto Pariente.
The vineyards are spread across two areas: one in Valladolid province, in Rueda, La Seca, Torrecilla de la Abadesa and Tordesillas, and another in Segovia province, in Codorniz and Nava de la Asunción. They are farmed organically, at an average altitude of 700-800 metres, on the stony, sandy soils typical of Rueda. The varieties grown are verdejo and sauvignon blanc. The study of these soils and their zoning has given rise to the winery's single-vineyard wines: Las Fincas de José Pariente, Finca La Medina and Finca Las Comas.
