VISIT BODEGAS MALACUERA [RIBERA DEL DUERO]
Bodegas Malacuera is a family winery within the DO Ribera del Duero, with its facilities in the town centre of Castrillo de Duero (Valladolid), near Peñafiel. Its origins lie underground: in the village's subterranean cellars, where local wine has been stored for generations. Three partners, together with oenologist Ángel Luis Margüello, shape the style of the wines, which the winery itself describes as canallas (roguish) and links to Dionysus, god of wine.
All its wines are made from grapes selected from small vineyard plots around the Valle del Botijas and the wider Ribera district. They work with old-vine tempranillo and albillo, shaped by the area's cold climate, which gives the grapes character and personality. Winemaking in the current facilities and the underground cellar go hand in hand in Malacuera's daily work, and both are part of the visit.
WINE TOURISM
The wine tourism offer at Bodegas Malacuera follows the wine cycle across three spaces: the vineyard, the winemaking facility and the underground cellar. The visit is designed for all audiences, with no prior wine knowledge required, just a short distance from Peñafiel. Bookings are made via WhatsApp, subject to availability.
Visit to Malacuera
The visit begins in the vineyard, to get to know the landscape, the soil and the vines the wines come from. It continues in the winemaking facility, where the winemaking process is explained and four Malacuera wines are tasted with local products. It ends in the underground cellar, with a fifth wine tasted straight from the barrel.

Una visita diferente a todas las que hemos ido, llena de muy buenas sensaciones con una persona muy cercana dándonos explicaciones muy claras. Sé nos pasó el tiempo sin darnos cuenta. Hicimos una cata de 4 vinos con unas tapas de acompañamiento increíble. Carlos el dueño de 10 en todos los sentidos tanto en las explicaciones como en el trato y los comentarios
Fui con mi pareja y lo pasamos genial. Nos enseñaron las cepas, donde nos explicó la producción de las mismas. En segundo lugar fuimos a la bodega, donde junto a una cata y aperitivo nos enseñó toda la elaboración del vino hasta llegar a la copa y tras eso, nos enseñó las antiguas bodegas situadas en cavidades del terreno. Una visita muy instructiva y agradable, con Carlos como anfitrión que nos trató de maravilla. Experiencia recomendable y para repetir, además unos vinos excelentes. Muchas gracias por todo, volveremos!
