VISIT BODEGAS PABLO MORATE [MADRID]

Bodegas Pablo Morate has been making wine in Valdelaguna, in the Vegas de Madrid area, since 1873. It is a family winery that has passed down through the generations to today, now with the fifth generation of winemakers at the helm, under the Vinos de Madrid Denominación de Origen, in the Arganda subzone.

Its Wine Museum, founded by the Morate family on 31 May 2001, occupies a distinctive building protected by Patrimonio Nacional dating from the 15th century and restored in the 18th century. Formerly a winery belonging to Don Manuel de Godoy, who married the Countess of Chinchón, it houses pieces such as clay amphorae, wooden-screw beam presses, grape-weighing scales and grape-shaping tools from earlier eras.

WINE TOURISM

Visits take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings, by prior booking, and are guided by one of the winery's oenologists.

Winery Visit, Wine Museum and Tasting
A guided tour of the production cellar, the ageing hall and the Wine Museum, with a trip to the estate's vineyard and a commented tasting of three wines to finish.

    • Visit to the production cellar for white, rosé and red wines
    • Visit to the ageing hall, with an explanation of the barrel-making process and of Roble, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva wines
    • Visit to the Wine Museum, a 15th-century building protected by Patrimonio Nacional, with period farming machinery and tools
    • Visit to the estate's vineyard*
    • Commented tasting of 3 wines with the oenologist
  • Duration: approximately 2 hours
  • Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, by prior booking
