Bodega Cerro de las Cruces

VISIT BODEGA CERRO DE LAS CRUCES WINERY [GUADIX, GRANADA]

Bodega Cerro de las Cruces was founded in 2013 in Guadix, a municipality within the Geopark of Granada, although the first vineyards were planted in 2005 in the Pago de Bertillana. Leading the project is José María Linares, who chose to produce small-batch wines on one of the most distinctive plateaus in Andalusia, at 950 meters above sea level, with clay soils and a marked day-night temperature contrast that gives each variety its own character.

The winery occupies clay caves carved into the Cerro de las Cruces, where temperature and humidity stay constant year-round without artificial climate control. With just 2 hectares of its own vineyards, it works with red varieties such as Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah, and white varieties such as Moscatel Grano Menudo, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Its wines have earned recognition at competitions such as the Mezquita International Awards, where the Tío Cato red won a silver medal in the 2020 and 2021 editions. In 2020 the winery joined D.O.P. Vinos de Granada.
