VISIT VIVES AMBRÓS CAVA WINERY [TARRAGONA]

Vives Ambros is a cava winery founded in 1991. We have 30 hectares of organic vineyards, harvested by hand to produce our Reserva and Gran Reserva cavas. The winery is an old harvesters' house, full of wine presses that are now used as aging rooms for our cavas.

During the visit, we tour the facilities where we make our wines and, above all, the most spectacular part: the underground cellar, a unique space made up of 14 interconnected wine presses, where the Cavas are currently stored.

The experience culminates with an exceptional tasting of 6 Cavas and 6 Wines: from an Ancestral and a Cava Rosado Reserva, to long-aged Cavas of 3, 5, and 8 years. We also tasted a 100% Cartoixà Vermell cava, a native variety from Tarragona that is almost extinct (only about 100 hectares remain in the whole of Catalonia).

Next, we tasted our 6 still wines: a white from very old vines, a fruity white with Muscat of Alexandria, a wine fermented and aged in ceramic amphorae, and the prestigious Jujol, our barrel-aged white wine, awarded Best Crianza White Wine in Catalonia at the Premis Vinari. We finished with two reds, one young and fruity, and the other aged for two years in French oak barrels.
