The link of Bodegas Vizar with the landscape is defining; its wines are the expression of the unique circumstances that occur in their vineyards. A unique project that combines very particular wines recognized with the highest quality label in the Spanish legislation.
We find an exceptional and unexpected 90 hectares of land, refuge of the Duero River that softens the climate; centenary pine forests that protect the vineyards, cushioning the extreme temperature changes and mountains that act as faithful guardians of the terroir. All this confers a unique microclimate that allows us to produce different wines of extraordinary quality.

Since 2017 we are certified in organic farming.
We are guided by a pact with nature and the defense of sustainable winegrowing practices such as the non-use of synthetic chemicals, herbicides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers in the vineyard, so it is supported only by the plant cover. The selected herbs act as natural fertilizer; in addition, the structure is drained, creating flowers, aromas, colors, etc., which attract insects and, as a consequence, native yeasts are generated.
Always looking for quality and maximum care, we create a balance where manual and artisan processes coexist with new technologies through an ecological and pampered agriculture resulting in the production of unique wines.
OUR WINES
After the experience acquired with the vineyard of the delimited area, several wine varieties have been planted, which are particularly well adapted to the geographical environment by providing a grape with a high concentration of polyphenols, especially in total anthocyanin content and tannin index.
Tempranillo: the most important variety in the "Dehesa Peñalba" vineyard, which, thanks to the vegetative cover of the lanes and a deep work near the vines, together with a very meticulous work of the trellising, is in perfect harmony with the environment.
Syrah: the second most representative variety which, with a longer cycle, has found a privileged situation (spring and mild autumns) to express all its varietal qualities.
Cabernet Sauvignon: like Syrah, the microclimate of the delimited area favors its maximum expression, although it limits its production.
Merlot: a variety that generally suffers from water limitations in the area, it finds in the subsoil the necessary reserves for its perfect and balanced ripening.
The wines of the Dehesa Peñalba PDO are red wines of sustained color (high intensity and bluish-red hue, with great stability), very good depth, very aromatic, with a predominance of ripe red and black fruit, especially in their youth. They have a consistent structure due to their high and stable polyphenolic fraction, with a sweet and long-lasting tannin. As a result, the wines are very elegant, medium to full-bodied, tasty, voluminous and long on the palate.
