Bodegas Trenza, founded in 2004 by Danish brothers David and Jonas Tofterup, joins the Enoturismo Spain directory. The project brings together wines made in different regions of Spain — from Galicia to Ribera del Duero, Rioja and Castilla-La Mancha — with the aim of showing the diversity of the territory through each bottle. In April 2026 the winery opened a Boutique Winery in Benissa (Alicante), housed in a carefully restored 17th-century riurau.

David Tofterup, trained in wineries in Penedès, Bordeaux, Chile and California, was named Best Winemaker in Spain by the Unión Española de Catadores in 2016 and 2018 before focusing his work on Bodegas Trenza. Jonas Tofterup, a Master of Wine, is the only Danish professional to hold this title and also directs the Iberian Wine Academy in Andalucía. Together with Jennifer Powell and a small team, they produce a collection of wines that combines varieties and regions from across Spain.

The wines come from vineyards in Yecla, Ribera del Duero, Rías Baixas and Castilla-La Mancha, with varieties such as Monastrell, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Garnacha, Bobal, Albariño, Chardonnay and Verdejo. Over 90% of the grapes come from organic, dry-farmed vineyards, including old Monastrell vines in Yecla and century-old Tempranillo in Ribera del Duero.

The wine tourism activity takes place at Finca el Ferrandet, in Benissa (Alicante). Next to the winery, visitors can explore old Moscatel de Alejandría vineyards, one of the region's native varieties. In September 2026 the first harvest with Alicante varieties will take place. The space is open to the public for wine tastings, a glass of wine, or to take home a favourite bottle.

Bodegas Trenza Winery offers guided tastings in a room under the finca's riurau, with views over the vineyards, Thursday to Sunday from 10:30am to 7:30pm.

All tastings include a personalised Riedel glass and last one hour.
